| | The Papantonis Winery | The Papantonis Winery was established in 1992 by Anthony Papantonis and
sister, Kallie Papantonis. The winery is located within the city of
Argos about 15 km from the vineyard, in the Nemea region of
Peloponnese.
Anthony began working on the development of the vineyard after obtaining
his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the Hamilton College in Mason
City, Iowa USA. For the past twenty-two years Anthony has focused on
cultivating his 20 acre vineyard of the native Aghiorghitiko grape
variety to create optimal conditions for their vines which produce the
high quality wines, Meden Agan and Lysimelis.
Kallie joined her brother in 1992 and started building the winery with
the goal of creating and offering their own unique wine. Her marketing
skills earned the company prestigious exposure and access to the elite
wine connoisseurs and gourmets of the Athenian society. The Papantonis’
were also the first Greek producers to personalize their wine labels to
include the customer's name.
MEDEN AGAN is now exported in different countries of Europe and USA.

| | Kontoyiannis Winery | Kontoyiannis Family Winery is situated in Markopoulos near the new Athens International Airport and has been producing traditional wines since 1961. The region has produced the world famous Retsina from the Savatiano grape variety for thousands of years. Kontoyianni family winery, believing in the potential of the Savatiano grape and determined to produce a Retsina which would pleasantly surprise even the most difficult anti-retsina critics, set out 5 years ago to produce an exceptional Retsina. After 5 years of research, many experiments in combining the specially selected pine resin to the Savatiano grape and investing heavily in new technology equipment and methods of production, we finally believe we have produced an exceptional Retsina. During the 2006 harvest the 5 years attention to detail and all we had learnt from our prior attempts were implemented and the resulting product was beyond our own expectations. A Retsina in which you can distinguish the fruitiness of the grape but with the complexity that the added pine resin provides, a Retsina which has refreshing acidity without the bitterness, a Retsina which leaves its mark on your palette but without being overpowering. One glass and the aroma, taste and aftertaste all amount to one word 'balance'.
In 2007 Kontoyianni Retsina of Markopoulos and Kontoyiannis Savatiano achieved distinctions both in Greek and International wine competitions. Kontoyianni Retsina of Markopoulos received a gold medal in Thessaloniki, a silver medal in the International Wine Challenge and bronze medals in both Decanter and the IWS competition.
Whether your pro-retsina, anti-retsina, or somewhere between, if you try just one glass of Kontoyianni Retsina of Markopoulos we guarantee you'll be pleasantly surprised.
