This wine-growing region is located in the north-west of Hungary, around 30 kilometres west of Budapest. The climate is characterised by long warm summers with constant breezes, and by mild winters. The vineyard area totals around 900 hectares. The soils consist of layers of quartz-rich soil over a limestone foundation. The region is known for its spicy, aromatic white wines. The leading grape varieties are Ezerjó, Királyleányka (Feteasca Regala), Leányka (Feteasca Alba), Rajnairizling (Rhine Riesling) and Tramini (Gewürztraminer).
