Catamarca

Wine-growing region in the north of Argentina, located in the foothills of the Andes mountains, the region of La Rioja borders it to the east. The total vineyard area is around 2.300 hectares. Two thirds of the vineyard area is located in the immediate vicinity of the town of Tintogasta. The El Valle section reaches from the west right up to the Andean vallies at high altitudes, the main variety grown here is the white Torrontés, which is used to produce aromatic white wines. In the east, the light red variety Cereza dominates, this is used as a base for mass-consumption rosé wines as well as for the production of rectified grape must concentrate.
