CaliforniaThe estate is located in St. Helena in the Napa Valley in California in the USA. It was founded in 1876, and has German roots. in the shape of the brothers Jakob (1845 - 1915) and Frederick Beringer (1840 - 1901). The „Rhine House”, which was built in 1883 in the style of a Rheingau half-timbered house, is a tourist attraction today. A cellar providing ideal conditions for the storage of wine was hewn into the rocks below this building. The total vineyard area is in excess of 1200 hectares, of which 250 hectares are in the Napa Valley. Ed Sbragia has been the cellarmaster since 1984, he created the flagship sine "Orivate Reserve", from Cabernet Sauvignon, which is also available in a white version made from Chardonnay. Other ranges produced are California Collection, Founders Estete, Knights Valley, Napa Valley, Stone Cellars and Third Century. The company changed hands several times, and was at one stage owned by Nestlé, and then in 2000 merged with the Australian wine group Mildara Blass, since then the group has been known as Beringer Blass. However, Beringer has retained its independence and own character in terms of winemaking.
