This wine-growing region is located in Hungary, it lies in the westerly section of the south shore of lake Balaton. It was known as Dél-Balaton until 1997. The vineyard area totals 2900 hectares, the soils are sandy loess. Mainly white wines are produced here. The leading grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch), Királyleányka (Feteasca Regala), Merlot, Olaszrizling (Welschriesling), Ottonel Muskotály (Muskat-Ottonel), Pinot Noir and Sémillon.
