Top wines in Domain Badacsony
This wine-growing region is located in the south-westerly section of the north shore of Lake Balaton in Hungary. The lake exerts a very positive influence on the climate. It is one of the most famous wine regions in Hungary, the wines from here are also described as the “nectar of the gods”. The vineyard area totals around 1.800 hectares, they are located on the slopes of volcanic hills, which also provide protection from the cold north winds. The most important grape varieties are: Kéknyelü (Blaustengler), Olaszrizling (Welschriesling), Ottonel Muskotály (Muskat-Ottonel), Rizlingszilváni (Müller-Thurgau), Sauvignon Blanc and Szürkebarat (Pinot Gris). These are used to produce full-bodied, fruity white wines with good maturation potential. Sweet botrytis wines (Aszú) are also produced when vintage conditions permit.
