Cataluña (Catalunya)The estate is located in the commune of El Vendrell in the DO region Penedès (Catalonia region) in Spain. The origins of the estate go back to 1914, when great-grandfather Josep Jané founded a wine trading business. Grandfather Albert then founded the first bodega in 1930, and purchased the main winery in El Vendrell. Today the estate is run by father Benjami Ventura, he is assisted by his sons Albert and Gerard. The vineyard area totals 8 hectares on the Finca Els Camps, with Macabeo vines more than 50 years old, as well as a further 7 hectares on the Finca Mas Vilella in Bisbal del Penedès. White grape varieties planted are Xarell-Lo, Macabeo, Muscat and Subirat (Malvasia Riojana), the red grape varieties planted are Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo), Cariñena (Carignan), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. 200 barriques are available for maturation, most of them of French oak, with some of American and Hungarian oak. The still wines are marketed in three ranges: ”Young wines (Blanc, Rosat), „Matured wines” (Vinya Palfuriana, Margalló) and „Estate wines” (Finca Els Camps, Mas Vilella). Cava is also produced.
