The estate is located in the commune of Cenicero, 20 kilometres from Logroño at the heart of the Rioja Alta sub-region in Rioja in Spain. It was founded in 1970 by Enrique Forner, who had spent many years in France, where, together with his brother was the owner of Château de Camensac. The famous oenologist Professor Émile Peynaud (1912-2004) was called in as a consultant in laying out the estate. Juan Noguera, Marqués de Cáceres, an aristocratic friend of the owner, allowed him to use his prestigious name. The estate does not own any vineyards, the grapes are bought in from the Union Vitivinícola de Logroño co-operative, as well as from local growers. 40.000 barriques are available for maturation. The red wines are made in a more fruit-driven style, and less oaky than is usual in Rioja. Most of the white wines are not matured in barriques at all. The flagship wine is the „Gaudium”, a blend of Tempranillo (95%) and Graciano (5%), it is matured in new French barriques for 18 months, plus a further 24 months in bottle. Around half the production is exported.

The vintage 2008

Unfortunately, no wines have been submitted for several years now, so that we are unable to form a meaningful opinion on the current performance of this producer. For this reason, we see no option but to suspend the classification until further notice.
