The estate is located in Mendavia close to Navarra in the Rioja Baja sub-region in Rioja in Spain. It was founded in 1985 by a group of respected Rioja specialists, and is owned by a group of investors (Diez, Noain and Santos-Ruiz families). An old abbey dating back to 1548 is still standing on the property, this was completely restored. The first wine was produced in 1990. The vineyard area totals 140 hectares, these are planted with the standard Rioja varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta and Viura, as well as with Cabernet Sauvignon. 12.000 barriques are available for maturation, 85% of these are of American oak and 15% of French oak. White, ros茅 and red Rioja wines are produced. The flagship of the estate is the single vineyard wine 鈥濬inca del Monasterio鈥�, made of 60% Tempranillo and 40% different experimental varieties. The range of products includes a Reserva, a Gran Reserva, a Rosado as well as wines called "El Meson Las Attilas" and "El Meson Selecci贸nada".

Unfortunately, no wines have been submitted for several years now, so that we are unable to form a meaningful opinion on the current performance of this producer. For this reason, we see no option but to suspend the classification until further notice.
