The estate is located in Avinyonet del Penedés in the DO region Penedès in the region of Catalunya in Spain. This is an old farmyard property close to an old Roman tower, which was built in the 2nd century AD. This tower was used to keep a lookout for Arabs, but now only ruins remain. The name Mas Comtal translates as „court of the count” and refers to the family home of the counts of Barcelona, to whom the farm estate belonged in the eary 11th century. The estate has been owned by the Milá family since the late 15th century, the family has borne this name since the mid-19th century. Viticulture at the estate can be traced back to its founding period. In 1993, the brothers Joan Milà, a respected oenologist, and Albert rang in a new era of quality wine production. The vineyard area totals 40 hectares, sustainable organic vineyard practices are implemented.
