Merum calls it a press scandal
Readers letter (so far 0)
The wine magazine Merum has examined the various Italian wine scandals in some detail, and has made allegations against some members of the media.
In particular, Merum voices concern that two totally different problem areas have become mixed up. The scandal about artificial wines has nothing to do with the investigations into several wineries in Tuscany (Brunello). Merum speaks specifically of a press scandal, as these topics have been blurred by the magazine L'Espresso. In addition, Merum is convinced that the artificial wine could not have been sold as IGT or DOC wines. In contrast to some reports, there is no evidence at this stage that the producers of the artificial wines had any contacts with foreign customers. (WF)
