South Africa shows strong growth

Wines from South Africa and Chile are increasingly popular with German consumers. Imports of wine from these countries in 2007 increased by 51 resp 38 per cent.
German imports of wine from Chile increased by 38 per cent in 2007, compared to the previous calendar year (now at 63 million litres), imports from South Africa increased by a hefty 51 per cent (to 58 million litres). Other overseas wines strongly represented on the German market are the USA (which, however, recorded a slight decrease in sales to Germany) as well as Australia (showing an increase of just on 14 per cent).
