Consortium publishes review

Readers letter (so far 0)

On its homepage, the Brunello consortium has published a comprehensive review of current investigations, and has underlined how serious its own controls are.

In its review the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino explains that around ten producers are the subject of investigations, and that the strict veil of secrecy drawn by the investigating authorities has meant that they do not know who has supplied information on the alleged addition of other grape varieties to the authorities. The consortium expresses its full confidence in the work of the authorities, and wants to see clarity on the matter; it states all necessary information has been provided to the authorities in Siena.

The consortium also stresses that the investigations by the authorities have not revealed any gaps in its own network of controls. Although the controls are already among the strictest in the world, the consortium is considering new methods of guaranteeing the quality of Brunello di Montalcino.
