Parker holds back
Readers letter (so far 0)
US wine critic Robert Parker has published his ratings of the 2007 vintage in Bordeaux. As expected, his opinions on the reds are guarded, indeed reticent, but many of the whites are given high ratings.
Parker's notes, published now, confirm his earlier general comments on the vintage. Readers will have to search carefully for highly rated reds, on the other hand some dry whites as well as numerous Sauternes wines will be happy with their high ratings. According to Parker, the highlights of the 2007 vintage in Bordeaux are the white wines of Châteaux Pape Clement and Haut-Brion as well as Château Climens. These have all been given potential 100-point scores. On the other hand, many red wines have been scored comparatively low, such as Châteaux Lafite-Rothschild and Latour (90-93). (WF)
