Ahr/Germany: Premiere for International Pinot Noir Symposium

Germany: Ice wine at last - but in minuscule quantities

Montpellier/France: Millésime Bio expects more exhibitors
The 19th international trade fair for organic wines, "Millésime Bio", plans to grow further. According to the organizers, they expect the next fair, to be held in Montpellier from 23 to 25 January 2012, to draw around 600 exhibitors from 15 countries. Read more

Freiburg/Germany: Three further cooperatives to remain with regional association
Following on reports this summer that several cooperatives had returned to the fold of the Baden regional wine marketing office, a recent press release has announced that the Auggen, Britzingen and Wolfenweiler wine cooperatives have agreed to withdraw their cancellations as per 31 December 2011. Austria: Exports increase, lofty goals
The Austrian wine industry continues its successes. Contrary to expectations, a record figure was achieved for exports (126 million Euros, + 2.6 per cent compared to the previous year). The average price per bottle increased significantly, a result of the significant reduction in volumes (-25 per cent). In the long run, the ÖWM marketing association is targeting annual wine exports to the tune of 200 million Euros. Read more

Vinissima: Anniversary year draws to a close
The 2011 anniversary year was focussed on the 20th anniversary of the German Vinissima association - Women and Wine. For instance, the networking group celebrated with a trip to Greece, and with prizes designed to encourage young women in wine. By now, Vinissima has 402 members.

Hong Kong: Wine and Spirits fair grows by around 40 per cent
The HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair 2011 has reported a record growth in both exhibitors and visitors. From 3. to 5. November, 934 exhibitors fro 37 countries and regions presented their products to 19.400 trade visitors at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Read more
