First Pinot Madeleine Forum
Readers letter (so far 0)
The Slow-Food Convivium of Bonn in Germany has extended an invitation to the 1st Pinot Madelein (Frühburgunder) Forum to be held at the Marienthal abbey in the Ahr valley on the 24th of March.
For the first time, a large contingent of no less than 16 wine producers will be jointly presenting wines made from the Pinot Madeleine grape, or Blauer Frühburgunder, a grape variety that had all but disappeared from the Ahr region, but has seen a revival in recent years, and now has a healthy place in the varietal mix, with a total vineyard area of 29 hectares. The tastings will be complemented by lectures on the variety, on health aspects as well as on the wine landscape of the Ahr valley.
Pinot Madeleine, which has been included in the "Ark of Taste", is today considered to be one of the characteristic varieties of the Ahr region.
