German wine producers are satisfied with the 2008 vintage - according to the German Wine Institute, wines of "good to very good quality" have been brought in. The volume, too, is satisfactory - at more than 10 million hectolitres, it is approximately the same as that of the previous year.
The vintage in Germany has been by and large completed. According to the German Wine Institute (DWI), good to very good quality and predicate wines have been harvested in all wine-growing regions, with the share of quality wines being slightly higher than in the previous vintage, In a few cases, top must weights of mroe than 200 degrees Oechsle have been picked. This year's vitnage overall in Fermany is estimated at 10 to 10,5 million hectolitres, roughly the same as last year. "Wine lovers this year can look forward to light-bodied, lively white wines with a fresh fruit acidity", says DWI chief Monika Reule. (WF/press release DWI)
