Largest winery founded

Readers letter (so far 0)

The merger of the Cantina Sociale di Mombaruzzo (Asti province) and the Cantina Terre di Ricaldone (Alessandria province) has created the largest winery in Piemont.

Effective as of 21 July 2008, the two cooperative cellars will merge their interests, making the new company the largest winery in the region in terms of vineyard area and of processing capacity. The new cooperative will have 450 members working 1.300 hectares of vineyards, and will bear the name "Tre Secoli - dal 1887 Viticoltori in Piemonte". The date in the new name is a reminder of the founding year of the Cantina Sociale di Mombaruzzo in 1887, and the development over the past three centuries. (WF)
