Readers letter (so far 0)
French cooperage Seguin Moreau has announced the development of intelligent barrels, said to be able to target and enhance specific aromas in wine.
Seguin Moreau has announced that the company has been researching for five years how to identify individual molecules in oak. The new type of barrel, which is due to be launched on the market in 2011, is apparently able to target and enhance specific aromas in wine - for example red fruit or spices. Seguin Moreau is part of the Oeneo group, and also plans to become mroe involved in the market for oak chips. (WF)
