Baden wine marketing builds steam
Readers letter (so far 0)
The Baden regional wine marketing office is apparently out of the worst. Initially, Walter Nöhren, former chief executive of the Oberkirch wine cooperative and of the central wine marketing association of the cooperatives in the Baden region (WWZ), had, as new chief executive of the "Badischer Wein GmbH" company, founded on 1st January 2009, attended to combining the previously separate marketing activities of cooperatives and private wineries. Many were surprised at his dismissal effective 1st September 2010. Sonja Höferlin was then presented as his successor, she had previously been responsible for marketing and distribution at the renowned VDP estate Bürgerspital in Würzburg in the Franken region. She has been in place officially as chief executive since the 1st of July 2010, and is considered an expert in the field, having studied winemaking as well as wine marketing at the university in Heilbronn, she has roots in Baden, as has recently pleaded for a voluntary wine marketing campaign in South Baden, and has announced further projects for 2010 to ensure a continued high profile for Baden wines in the minds of consumers. Projects include a brochure on Pinot Noir from Baden, a supplement in the news magazine "Der Spiegel" on the favourite wines of winemakers in Baden as well as a new radio spot.
