As reported earlier, numerous producers received awards for their ranges of wines when the new editions of the GaultMillau and Eichelmann wine guides were published in Germany. Not mentioned previously, a prize was also awarded to the Kühling-Gillot estate in Rheinhessen.

The Eichelmann wine guide named Carolin Spanier-Gillot and Hans Oliver Spanier as the rising star of the year. Both the dry wines - such as a 2007 Riesling Großes Gewächs/Grand cru from the Niersteiner Pettenthal site - as well as the sweet botrytis wines - such as the 2007 Gewürztraminer Trockenbeerenauslese - were praised in the highest notes bei taster Gerhard Eichelmann.
