Pure „HARMONY“- innovation in the field of wine tasting

Readers letter (so far 0)

The current Darting study has come up with a result – the HARMONY 53 glass produced by RASTAL is the optimum tasting glass for both red and white wines.

Martin Darting, winemaker and internationally recognised authority on sensory appreciation, and lecturer at both the German and Swiss Wine and Sommelier schools, initiated this independent study.
Numerous empirical blind tastings of 14 wines produced by different methods were tested by winemakers, wine lovers, sommeliers and restaurateurs with regard to their aroma intensity, the concentration of aromas (pic) and the total aroma intensity.
At the same time, additional wine analyses were carried out by 42 international tasters - and all came to the dame conclusion:

„The surprising thing about this glass is the concentration of aromas. There is great differentiation in the perception of the aromas. This means that a wine aroma appears to be pulled apart, making it easier to recognise the individual groups of aromas. Compared to other tasting glasses, the HARMONY 53 particularly also shows up aromas that are not dominant, and could not be perceived at all in many other glasses. It is therefore particularly suitable for analytical tasting purposes, as the glass reveals aromas present in low concentrations by increasing the aroma intensity.

In addition, the glass is pleasant to hold, it is not too heavy, and can be swirled easily while being held at a slight angle. At a slight angle, the wine is agitated, and more air is included. The broad body and the relatively short funnel makes it possible to develop and perceive the aromas described above very quickly.
Martin Darting commented on the results of his study that "particularly wines with shy aromas as well as full-bodied, barrel-matured red wines particularly show this effect“.

This means that glass specialist RASTAL has once again shown its expertise with this highlight.
HARMONY 53 is ideal for full-bodied white and red wines, as well as for shy-nosed wines. The model completes the successful and puristic HARMONY series of wine glasses, consisting of special models for Burgundy, red wine, white wine, sparkling wine and spirits.
The austere, clear design also perfectly rounds off the presentation of the wine optically.
