Vintage gets under way in the south
Readers letter (so far 0)
The 2007 wine vintage has begun in Roussillon as well as in parts of Provence in France.
Some wine producers in the Bandol appellation have started harvesting, as have producers in Roussillon. Whereas the region close to the Spanish border has started virtually at the same time as in other vintages, the producers in Provence have started a few days earlier than the long-term average. For the remaining regions in France, too, the early flowering is likely to be followed by an early harvest. It is expected that the vintage in both Burgundy and Champagne is likely to get under way this week.
