Donauland to change to Wagram

Readers letter (so far 0)

The Donauland wine-growing region in Austria will be changing its name to Wagram in future.

After lengthy discussions, the decision has been taken to change the name of the Donauland wine-growing region in Lower Austria to Wagram. Ever since 1995, the Donauland has consisted of the sub-regions of Wagram (around 2.500 hectares located north of the Danube) and Klosterneuburg (around 350 hectares located to the south of the river), however the name was bever really popular. In recent years, an increasing number of wine producers has sought to buld up a profile under the Wagram name, with the designation Donauland becoming an almost superfluous appendage. A new regional site (Grosslage) Klosterneuburg has been created within the new Wagram region. The new designation will apply as of the 2007 vintage.
