Tax on wine increased
Readers letter (so far 0)
Ireland has significantly increased its already hefty tax on wine.
The Irish government wants a big chunk of every bottle of wine. The excise tax on wine has been increased by 50 cents per bottle to a new high of 2,55 Euros per bottle. It is not much of a consolation to wine drinkers that the tax rates on apple cider and low-alcohol beer were reduced at the same time. (WF)
