Merely a technical error
Readers letter (so far 0)
The Antinoi group in Tuscany has announced that one of its Brunello di Montalcino wines, which had been criticised by the authorities, has now been confirmed to comply with the regulations. However, a technical fault did occur...
According to Antinori, investigations by the relevant authorities have shown that the 2003 Brunello di Montalcino consists of 100 per cent Sangiovese, as is demanded by the regulations. All the bottles originally confiscated have now been released again. However, the company admits that a technical error was made. Three hectares of vineyards, the grapes of which were not intended to go into the Brunello, had been declared as being planted with Sangiovese, whereas this vineyard was in fact planted with Petit Verdot. Antinori regrets the mistake. (WF)
