Competition for wine by the glass

The competition for the best wine by the glass in the Mosel region is under way again. On-trade establishments can submit wines for judging until the 6th of May.

The entry forms for the 2011 competition are currently being sent out to thousands of businesses. Wines can be handed in to the wine control authorities in Koblenz, Wittlich and Trier, as well as at a special depot in Bremm, during the period 26. April to 6. May. All on-trade houses with a concession that offer wines from the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer regions for sale by the glass are elibible to enter, including those situated outside the Mosel region.

The wines are judged in eight categories: Elbling dry, Rivaner dry, Riesling dry, off-dry and sweet, white Pinot varietis dry, Rosé/Blanc de noir dry and red wine dry. All wines given a positive assessment are awarded the seal "Awarded - the best Schoppen (wine by the glass), winning wines are awarded the seal "Winning wine - the best Schoppen“.
