Country wine with the additional description "de France" has cleared the last hurdle.

In future, French country wine may also be marketed with the name plus the additional description "de France", it will no longer be obligatory to state the region of origin. The authorities in question, VINIFLHOR, have now authorised the change to the existing regulations. Many producers believe the new name will provide better sales opportunities, although some of the wine producers and larger wineries in Languedoc-Roussillon would prefer to stick to the established designations.
