Readers letter (so far 0)
Compared to the long-term average, vegetation in the Rheingau region in Germany is currently around two weeks ahead of schedule. Pinot Madeleine grapes already have a must weight of 65 degrees Öchsle, while Riesling grapes are starting to soften.
As reported by the Rheingau wine producers association as well as by the Weinreporter, grape vines in the Rheingau region are currently around two weeks ahead of schedule in their development. 65 degrees Oechsle must weight have already been measured for Pinot Madeleine grapes, Riesling is still far below this, but it is expected berries will start to soften in a few days time. That point is considered to mark the beginning of the ripening process. (WF)
