Puzzling Riesling from a steep sloping site

Readers letter (so far 0)

There is some confusion about a Mosel Riesling wine from a steep sloping site currently on sale at German discount chain Plus.

As reported by the German trade magazine Weinwirtschaft, confusion persists with regard to a Riesling wine from a steep sloping site that has been on sale in the Plus discount chain since the 25th of August. The wine, which is sold under the Plus house brand of Villa am Weinberg, was initially priced at 2,99 Euros, this has since been increased to 3,49 Euros. However, insiders are puzzled as to how it is possible to produce a 2006 wine from a steep sloping site at this kind of price. The publication Weinwirtschaft speculates that at least part of the estimated 120.000 bottles of the wine sold was sourced from a subsidiary of the F. W. Langguth Erben company in Traben-Trarbach.
