The Côtes are coming

The first wines of the new Bordeaux appellation Côtes de Bordeaux will be marketed in the spring of 2009. The legal framework for this has now been created.

Subject to the approval by the ministry of agriculture in Paris, purely a formality, the wines of the AOC Côtes de Bordeaux will be launched with the 2008 vintage. Additions envisaged by the regulations include Blaye, Castillon, Francs or Cadillac - the complete AOC will thus be known, for example, as Côtes de Bordeaux Blaye. (WF)
