Ice wine at the end of the year
Readers letter (so far 0)
The Friedrich Kiefer estate managed to pick frozen grapes for the production of ice wine just before the New Year's Eve fireworks.
The wine estate, which is located in the Kaiserstuhl district in Baden in Germany, was able to pick the grapes in the early hours of the 30th of December. The grapes are of the Scheurebe variety, and had an average must weight of 180 degrees Oechsle after pressing. In fact, says winemaker Martin Schmidt, a top level of 195 degrees Oechsle was measured for some of the grapes, which the team picked at a temperature of minus 9 ° C. (WF)
