Strong demand for mature Bordeaux

Readers letter (so far 0)

Mature Bordeaux wines have gone under the hammer at an auction in Hong Kong, realising surprisingly high prices. The worldwide financial crisis appears not to have impacted generally on the passion of wine collectors yet.

As reported by the Drinktank, Bordeaux wines were sold at surprisingly high prices at an auction held by London specialist auction house Christie's in Hong Kong - significantly above the estimates. The highlight was a case of 1961 Château Latour, which sold for the equivalent of 132.000 Euros, while twelve bottle of 1959 Château Latour went for a creditable 91.500 Euroa. (WF)
