The Latium region, organised by ARSIAL (regional agency for the development and innovation in agriculture in Latium) has put together a presentation involving 13 wine producers. After visits to Bordeaux and Munich, the group has now shown itself in Berlin.
The region has a production of around 2 million hectolitres, or around 5 per cent of the Italian total, and is characterised by great diversity. In addition to local varieties such as Malvasia Puntinata, Grechetto and Cesanese, one will also find international varieties here, such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet, all of which thrive in excellent conditions. Currently the most intersting variety is Cesanese, which produces powerful and characteristic red wines, and at an interesting price level. Good, individualistic wines could be sold in specialist trade shops at retail prices in the range of four to seven Euros. (WF/press release)
