The estate is located in the commune of Kurtinig an der Weinstraße (Cortina sulla strada del vino) in Alto Adige in the Trentino-Alto Adige region in Italy. It was founded in Neumarkt by A. Giovanett in 1970. In 1989 his son Günther and daughter in law Alessandra took over the business, and moved to Cortina. The son, Ivan Giovanett has a degree in viticulture and oenology, and is responsible for the cellar, their daughter Ines, who is also studying viticulture and oenology, looks after sales and administration. The vineyard area totals around 50 hectares, stretching from Salurn to Bolzano. 60% of the area is planted with the following white varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Bianco and Kerner, the remaining 40% are planted with the red varieties Vernatsch, Lagrein, Pinot Nero, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Depending on the type of wine they are matured in stainless steel tanks, large oak barrels or in barriques. There is a large range of products divided into four ranges: Mont Mes (young wines), Classic (varietal red and white wines, classical maturation), Villa Karneid (Cru wines from a selected 8 ha site in the lowlands of Alto Adige) and Burgum Novum (flagship wines from the best sites).
