Veneto

DOC for dry red and white wines in the east of the wine-growing region of Veneto in Italy. The zone includes 12 communes in the province of Venezia and 50 communes in the province of Treviso, the area is named after the river of the same name. The vineyards lie in the Piave basin, and stretch from the Adriatic coast in the south to Conegliano in the north. To the east lies the DOC Lison-Pramaggiore, as well as the Friuli-Giulia-Venezia region. French grape varieties have been planted here since the late 19th century. The following wines are available, and with the exception of Cabernet they are all varietal wines (with the permitted addition of a maximum of 5% of other DOC varieties of the same colour): Cabernet (CS and CF), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot (60% of production), Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Nero, Raboso, Tocai Italico and Verduzzo.
