Top wines in Domain Valdichiana DOC
DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Tuscany in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Arezzo, Castiglion Fiorentino, Civitella in Val di Chiana, Cortona, Foiano della Chiana, Lucignano, Marciano della Chiana and Monte San Savino in the province of Arezzo, as well as the communes of Chiusi, Montepulciano, Sinalunga and Torrita di Siena in the province of Siena. The varietal-labelled wines Chardonnay, Grechetto and Sangiovese must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the remaining 15% may be made up of other permitted varieties of the same colour. Bianco and Bianco Vergine (also made as Frizzante and Spumante versions) are made from Trebbiano Toscano (20-100%), with any one or more of the varieties Chardonnay, Grechetto, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio (up to 80%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 15%). Rosso and Rosato are made from Sangiovese (50-100%), Cabernet and/or Merlot and/or Syrah (up to 50%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 15%). White Vin Santo is made from dried grapes of the varieties Malvasia Toscana and/or Malvasia Bianca (50-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 50%) in Secco and Amabile versions. If matured for 4 years it may be called a Riserva.
