  Valdadige DOC

DOC (rarely also designated by the German name Etschtaler) for a wide rnage of red, rosé and white wines in northern Italy. The area crosses regional borders, and includes parts of Trentino (southern section of the Trentino-Alto Adige region) and Veneto. The zone includes the hilly slopes and plains along the Adige river, stretching from Merano in Alto Adige to Sant´Ambrogio di Valpolicella in Veneto, with more than 30 communes in the two provinces of Bolzano and Trentino, as well as the three communes of Brentino Belluno, Dolcè and Rivoli Veronese in the province of Verona (Veneto). The varietal-labelled wines must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the remainder may be made up of other permitted varieties of the same colour. The wines, which are mostly produced in a dry style, are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay (also made as a Frizzante), Enantio (synonym for Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata), Pinot Bianco (also made as a Frizzante), Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon and Schiava (also made in an Amabile version). The Bianco (in Secco and Amabile versions) is a blend made from any combination of the varieties Trebbiano Toscano, Nosiola, Sauvignon and Garganega (minimum of 20% of any one variety, together up to 100%), as well as optionally from any combination of Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Riesling Italico, Chardonnay and Müller-Thurgau (20-100%). Rosso and Rosato (in Secco and Amabile versions, Rosso also made as a Superiore) are blends made from any combination of the varieties Merlot, Pinot Nero, Lagrein, Teroldego, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (up to 50%), as well as from any combination of Enantio and Schiava (minimum of 20% of each variety, maximum total of 50%). Terra dei Forti is produced exclusively in the communes of Brentino Belluno, Dolcè and Rivoli Veronese in the province of Verona (Veneto), as well as in Avio in the province of Trentino. This is available in the following variants: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Enantio and Rosso.
