Lombardy

DOC for red and white wines in the wine-growing region of Lombardy in Italy. The name translates as „the valley of Calepio“ (the Conte Calepio used to have property I nthis area). The zone includes 47 communes in the Calepio valley in the province of Bergamo. The dry Bianco is a blend made from Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay (55-80%), as well as from Pinot Grigio (20-45%). The sweet Moscato Passito is a varietal wine made from partly dried grapes of the Moscato variety, it has an alcohol content of 17% vol. The dry Rosso is a blend made from Merlot (40-75%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25-60%). If matured for three years, and with a minimum alcohol content of 12,5% vol it may be called a Riserva.
