Italian term for the region of Tuscany. In addition, this is an IGT designation introduced in 1995, especially for the so-called Super-Tuscans. This meant that these wines, which up to then could only be sold as Vino da Tavola table wines, could now be declared as IGT wines with a certified origin. This also made it possible to state a vintage. Additional IGT designations in Tuscany include Alta Valle della Greve, Colli della Toscana Centrale, Maremma Toscana and Val di Magra.
