This plain lies at the confluence of the Adige and Noce rivers. The zone includes the communes of Mezzocorona and Mezzolombardo, as well as the suburb of Grumo in the commune of San Michele all´Adige (with a famous viticultural college) in the province of Trento. The vineyards have been described as the „most beautiful in Europe“, the soils are sandy and rich in limestone on a sub-soil of gravel. The viney are traditionally trellised on the pergola system. Rosso (Rubino may also be used on the label) and Rosato (Kretzer) are varietal wines made from the indigenous variety Teroldego. If matured for 2 years, and with a minimum alcohol content of 12% vol, the Rosso may be called a Superiore. Well-known producers include Cavit, Cipriano Fedrizzi, Foradori, Cantine Monfort, Endrizzi and Gaierhof.
