Latium

DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Latium in Italy. The zone includes 15 communes in the province of Roma and 15 Gemeinden (including Tarquinia, from which the name is taken) in the province of Viterbo. The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano and/or Trebbiano Giallo (50-100%), Malvasia di Candia and/or Malvasia del Lazio (up to 35%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 30%). It is produced in Secco, Abboccato and Amabile styles, a Frizzante is also produced. Rosso (also made as a Novello) and Rosato are made from Sangiovese and/or Montepulciano (60-100%), Cesanese Comune (up to 25%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 30%). The Rosso is made in Secco and Amabile versions.
