Top wines in Domain Savuto DOC
DOC for dry rosé and red wines in the wine-growing region of Calabria in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Aiello Calabro, Altilia, Amantea, Belsito, Carpanzano, Cleto, Grimaldi, Malito, Marzi, Pedivigliano, Rogliano, Santo Stefano di Rogliano and Serra d´Aiello in the province of Cosenza, as well as the communes of Conflenti, Martirano, Martirano Lombardo, Motta Santa Lucia, Nocera Tirinese, San Mango d´Aquino in the province of Catanzaro. The vineyards are located in the valley of the Savuto river, from which the name is taken, and on the Tyrrhenian coast, partly on very steep hill-side slopes. Rosso and Rosato are blends made from Gaglioppo (35-45%), in combination with any mixture of one or more of the following varieties: Greco Nero, Nerello Cappuccio, Magliocco Canino and Sangiovese (30-40%) as well as optionally from the white varieties Malvasia Bianca Lunga and/or Pecorino (up to 25%). If it has been matured for two years and has a minimum alcohol content of 12,5% vol, the Rosso may be called a Superiore.
