DOC for dry red wine in the wine-growing region of Apulia in Italy. The zone includes the town of Cerignola, from which it takes the name, and which is the leading agricultural centre in Apulia, as well as the communes of Stornara, Stornarella and a part of Ascoli Satriano in the province of Bari. The wine is usually a blend made from Uva di Troia (55-100%), Negroamaro (15-30%), as well as from any combination of one or more of the following varieties: Sangiovese, Barbera, Montepulciano, Malbech and Trebbiano Toscano (up to 15%). If it is matured for a minimum of two years, and has a minimum alcohol content of 13% vol it may be called a Riserva.
