Top wines in Domain Riesi DOC
DOC for red, rosé and white wines on the island of Sicily off the coast of Italy. The zone includes the communes of Butera, Riesi and Mazzarino in the province of Caltanisetta. The Bianco (also made as a Spumante) is made from Ansonica (Inzolia) and/or Chardonnay (75-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 15%). The sweet Vendemmia Tardiva (late harvest) is made from the same varieties, except that the grapes are dried on the vine, this wine has an alcohol content of 18% vol. Rosso (also made as a Novello) and Rosato are made from Calabrese (Nero d´Avola) and/or Cabernet Sauvignon (80-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 20%). Superiore is made from Calabrese (85-100%) and optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 15%). If matured for 3 years (of which a minimum of one year in oak and 6 months in bottle), the wine may be called a Riserva.
