DOC for a wide range of red, rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy. The zone includes 33 communes in the province of Reggio Emilia, including the provincial capital of the same name. The Rosso (also made as a Novello) is a blend made from Ancellotta (50-60%), as well as from any combination of the Lambrusco variants Maestri, Montericco, Salamino and Sorbara, as well as from Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbo Gentile, Marzemino, Merlot and Sangiovese (up to 50%). Salamino Rosso and Salamino Rosato are made from Lambrusco Salamino (85-100%), as well as optionally from any of the following varieties: Ancellotta, Lambrusco Marani, Lambrusco di Sorbara and Malbo Gentile (up to 15%). Lambrusco Rosso (also made as a Novello) and Lambrusco Rosato are made from any combination of the Lambrusco variants Maestri, Marani, Montericco, Salamino and Sorbara (85-100%), as well as from Ancellotta and Malbo Gentile (up to 15%). All these wines are made in Secco, Amabile, Abboccato and Dolce versions, and are also produced as Frizzantes. The Bianco Spumante is dry, and is made from any combination of the Lambrusco variants Marani, Maestri, Montericco, Salamino and Sorbara, as well as from Malbo Gentile, and is made in a white version (blanc de noir).
