DOCG for sweet white wine in the wine-growing region of Friuli-Giulia-Venezia in Italy, this is an enclave within the large DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli. The zone includes a separate area within the commune of Nimis in the province of Udine. The vineyard area totals around 50 hectares. The vineyards are located on steep south-facing slopes at an altitude of between 250 and 413 metres above sea level. To the north, the area is protected by the Monte Bernadia mountain, which is 1.700 metres high. Very specific climatic conditions predominate, with intensive sunshine by day, and drastic temperature drops by night. DOCG classification was awarded in 2001, and the wine was produced for the first time in that year. The wine is a pure varietal made from Verduzzo Giallo (synonym for Verduzzo Friulano) made in the style of a passito, the minimum alcohol content specified is 14% vol.
