DOC for red wine in the wine-growing region of Apulia in Italy. The zone lies along the south coast of the Salento peninsula, and includes the communes of Erchie, Oria and Torre Santa Susanna in the province of Brindisi, as well as the communes of Avetrana, Carosino, Faggiano, Fragagnano, Leporano, Lizzano, Manduria, Maruggio, Monteparano, Pulsano, Roccaforzata, San Giorgio Ionico, San Marzano di San Giuseppe, Sava and Torricella in the province of Taranto. The wines have a deep red to violet colour and, this is a pure varietal wine made from Primitivo, and produced in secco and amabile versions (14% vol, matured for 9 months), as well as in the dessert wine versions Dolce Naturale (16% vol), Liquoroso Dolce Naturale (17,5% vol, two years maturation) and Liquoroso Secco (18% vol, two years maturation).
