DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the Maremma area in the south of the wine-growing region of Tuscany in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Massa Marittima and Monterotondo Marittimo, as well as parts of the communes of Castiglione della Pescaia, Follonica, Gavorrano, Scarlino and Roccastrada in the province of Grosseto. The varietal-labelled Vermentino must contain a minimum of 90% of this variety. The Rosso (also made as a Novello and Riserva) and Rosato are made from Sangiovese (80-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 10% each, up to 20% in total). The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (50-100%), as well as from any combination of Ansonica, Malvasia Bianca, Malvasia Bianca di Candia and Vermentino (up to 30%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 30%). A white Vin Santo (in Secco and Amabile as well as in Riserva versions) is made from Trebbiano Toscano and/or Malvasia (70-100%), as well as optionally from other white varieties (up to 30%). The rosé Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice is made from Sangiovese (50-70%), Malvasia Nera (10-50%) and optionally from other red varieties (up to 30%).
