DOCG (also known as Sagrantino di Montefalco) for red wine in the wine-growing region of Umbria in Italy. The DOCG classification was awarded in 1992. The zone includes the intire commune of Montefalco (there is also a DOC for red and white wines of this name) as well as parts of the communes of Bevagna, Castel Ritaldi, Giano dell´Umbria and Gualdo Cattaneo in the province of Perugia. The Secco is a 100% varietal wine made from Sagrantino grapes. The minimum alcohol content required is 13% vol. The sweet Passito is made from raisined grapes, and has a minimum alcohol content of 14,5% vol. Maturation of at least 30 months is prescribed for both wines. Well-known producers include Adanti, Antonelli San Marco, Caprai, Colpetrone, Goretti, Perticaia, Rocca di Fabbri, Scacciadiavoli, Spoletoducale Casale Triocco, Terre de Trinci.
